WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE WITH THE COVID-19 AND WORSHIP

The world we live in has shifted over the past week with the emergence of the coronavirus in the United States and more specifically in Virginia.  After prayerful conversation with the Session, guidance from our Presbytery, and an assessment of our unique situation that we have made the decision to cancel worship services Sunday, March 22, 2020.  After our discussions,  we believe that erring on the side of caution is the best call.  Much as we hate to discourage people from coming to worship, we recognize our congregation could be profoundly impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak.

We are trying to update you on our website at CPCVA.org  for updates. Several churches in our presbytery do have live-stream options on Facebook Live, YouTube or their websites.  We have been made aware that King’s Grant, Carver Memorial, First Norfolk, Second Norfolk, Williamsburg, Great Bridge, St. Andrews, Royster Memorial, Kirkwood and others have live-streaming.  This is not a complete list of remote options but I hope it will give you all a potential worship alternative that is available to you.

This is an unprecedented time. I will share the words of our General Presbytery, our prayers are with all of you, with all those who are ill, and with those who are caregivers and medical providers.  We trust in God who is always with us and pray that God will fill us with peace, understanding, patience and love for one another.

Please continue to support and care for one another during this time.  May God’s peace and blessings be with you all.

Prayerfully,

Betsy Clark

Clerk of Session
